

Dr. Milena Imhof is a Licensed Psychologist who works clinically with individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds. As a trained professional Dr. Imhof has extensive experience helping adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples, and has been honored to witness the courage of her clients manifest through marked improvement in their wellbeing and livelihood. Dr. Imhof is not only well versed in evidence based treatments; she also champions the importance of the working alliance formed with each client through empathetic understanding.
In addition to working with adults and couples, Dr. Imhof also specializes in psychological assessment, as well as working with troubled adolescents and their families. Dr. Imhof has worked at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles – Division of Adolescent Medicine and high schools across Los Angeles. She is particularly concerned with the impact of socioeconomic extremes at both ends of the spectrum on adolescent development, and the healthy functioning of youth within their unique family context. Dr. Imhof has authored a booklet for mental health professionals working with affluent adolescents, in order to improve quality of care and raise awareness about the challenges teens in affluent communities face.
Education and Clinical Experience:
Dr. Milena Imhof was raised in Southern California and then moved to New York City where she earned a Bachelor of the Arts in Art History and Photography from New York University. Dr. Imhof then decided to become a psychologist and completed her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University, where her studies focused on Developmental Psychology and working with children and adolescents. During this time Dr. Imhof worked at a social service agency in Harlem providing therapy to at-risk youth, as well as providing art therapy to physically and mentally disabled children.
After moving to Los Angeles, Dr. Imhof worked for several years as a supervisor of therapists working with learning disabled and autistic children in the classroom. Dr. Imhof then earned her Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University.
Throughout Dr. Imhof’s clinical experience she has provided therapeutic services to culturally diverse adults, children, teens, families, and couples at community agencies, foster care group homes, a medical clinic, a domestic violence shelter, grade schools and high schools. Dr. Imhof has also participated in program development for mental health services at charter high schools in South Los Angeles and has conducted psychodiagnostic assessments for pre-adoption hearings, as well as psychological testing for learning disabilities.
Dr. Imhof has continued training in Relational Life Therapy, couples therapies, and sex therapy. She has also worked extensively with adults with severe and persistent mental illness, as well as those in recovery from addiction. Dr. Imhof is licensed in the state of California # PSY24743.
